The Shopify POS System
Our Shopify POS review will give you an insight into the system and how it works.
Shopify POS gives you an all in one solution to manage your products in a clean and efficient way. Use as a stand alone in store epos system or integrate seamlessly with your shopify store.

Did someone say sleek…
Shopify features a super sleek front end look.

What does shopify have to offer?
Shopify POS gives you a few options depending on your size of store and requirements. For POS only you have the option of starter or retail.
Starter – £5 per month
This gives you the basic shopify lite POS which as minimal features but does the job for your basic needs. An important note is this plan offers payments at 5% which is very high.
Retail – £69 Per month
The retail POS from shopify gives you additional features which includes:
Unlimited staff can access POS
Staff roles and permissions
Rich customer profiles
Customer loyalty insights
Returns and exchanges at any location
Inventory management
Professional retail reports
Omnichannel selling
This is what we class as a fully fledged epos system which gives most businesses the things they need to run efficiently.
If you are looking to have a POS and e-commerce site, you’ll be looking at prices starting from £25 a month which includes POS lite or add £69 to upgrade to POS pro. See below for details on the differences. In all honesty when we wrote up our shopify pos review we got a bit confused with the pricing structure with POS so hopefully this simplifies things for you.
Shopify POS lite or Pro?
Between pro and lite it’s a matter of features. The pro version offers a range of reporting, product and more integrations with omnichannels (eBay, amazon etc)
Shopify Lite
This is included in all shopify plans. Choose the basic plan for £25 which includes e-commerce or £5 a month for POS only
POS Pro
Priced at £69 a month and can be paid as it is or on top of a e-commerce package. The pro version includes various upgrades and extras to enable better store management and scalability.

The System
The System
Shopify EPOS offers a very clean system that works seamlessly with your shopify store (if you’d like). The super modern interface is aesthetically pleasing and adds the modern touch to your store. Shopify POS is available to use with shopify payments (see below for rates) or use your own payment provider (unless you want to pay an extra charge this will be used by manual payments instead of automatically linking).

How is the back office?
The back office offers a range of reporting needs which supports pretty much all businesses. Reporting will show both your instore and online sales in one location and you’ll be able to integrate with your favourite accounting software

What Hardware do i need?
You can run Shopify on your phone or tablet. For shopify payments you will need to purchase a card machine (for £59) which connects wirelessly. Shopify also offer hardware kits and a card machine with more advanced features.

How is the front end?
The front end offers a sleek user experience. Customize the layout to suit your needs. Payments are processed in super quick time using integrated payments and you’ll have the option to add manual payments (such as bank transfer, stand alone machine, or cash)
Card processing fees
As shopify is classed as an all in one solution you will have set processing fees. The card processing fees for retail are fair for the POS of this style where you have an all in one solution, you can get better rates if your going to use a different provider but you will need to pay a percentage to do the integration. Our tip is to either stick with Shopify’s payment solution or have a stand alone machine where you can input manually.
Shopify Basic
What do we think?
Why Shopify over other POS providers?
Seamlessly integrate with your shopify store – No hassle with multiple platforms, simply have everything in one place. Customer, sales and inventory all together.
Mobile friendly – due to its flexibility with phone and ipad integrations it fits well for mobile businesses such as events, food vans and more.
Multiple integrations – A huge number of integrations are available due to the popularity of shopify.
Cons of Shopify POS?
If you would like to integrate your current payment provider you will need to pay extra fees. However you can use your own payment provider and set it up for manual payments with no fees.
Transaction fees – At 1.6/1.7% these fees can be higher than other POS providers. Something like Epos now you can integrate your own payment provider and get fees from 0.35%.

Our final thoughts
If you’re looking for an all in one solution then shopify covers all bases. Yes you can get systems that are cheaper with lower processing fees but this can be outweighed by the ease of use and simplicity of having everything in one place. Saving you money on e-commerce and adds ons. We hope that giving you this shopify pos review helps you make an informed decision but feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
